How inconvenient it is to have your child's birthday in the same week as yours! I mean ... the NERVE of this little one coming into the world 5 days after my day.
Oh, but how precious she is! And, how thankful we are for her.
La Petite Belle is not as petite as she was when I started this blog. The girl turned 12 this past Saturday.
She had a great party at the good 'ol skating rink. This brought back memories for the adults in attendance for sure. I was waiting to hear some "Super Freak" or "No Parking on the Dance Floor," but apparently those songs are out-of-date. It was one of her favorite parties she's ever had!
The birthday party was Friday night, but she had another special day Saturday, her actual birthday. She wanted brunch (a girl after her mother's heart) and then we took her shopping for a new bike. Since then, she's ridden her bike all over the neighborhood and literally said, at one point, "I'm livin' the life," as she rode by us. It's the simple things that can make a girl so happy ... just a bike and cooler weather and she's in heaven.
When you do have a birthday in the same week as your child, which Beau and I both do, you, as the parent, tend to suffer. My birthday was just a regular day, minus the fact that I had to pick up K Belle at school because she was sick, and cook my own supper because Beau was in so much pain with his knee that he took a Lortab in the middle of the day and went to bed.
The highlight of my birthday was my free Rooty-Tooty Fresh & Fruity from IHOP. Lame. I know. So, I declared a do-over birthday the next day, and although I had to go to work, it was definitely better.
I got a surprise present from a friend, flowers from two sweet girls, lunch with more friends, and I finally got cake. YES!!
Now, the birthdays are over. Onto the holidays!
