This is it.

This is the week I "turn old," as my kids say.

I'm mentally preparing myself.

I must admit that within the last six months, I have noticed some signs of age creeping up on me:
I can't run like I used to be able to run.

My eye cream ... not working. Crow's feet have turned into crow's legs.

My eyesight is getting poorer and poorer. Vision has changed drastically in just 5 months. I'm getting pretty scared about my next driver's license vision test.

More and more waking up before the alarm clock has ensued. I might as well just get up and eat my Fiber One and bananas at 4:30 a.m.

The gray hairs are popping up like weeds! Just when I pluck one out, I find four more. Ugh.

My love for flowing dresses that don't constrict or touch my body at all is inescapable. A daily moo-moo will suit me just fine, thank you.

And, I'll spare you the gruesome details of all my hormonal issues that encompass more than being a crybaby.

Despite all these things, there are times I forget that I'm going to be "over the hill." I have to remind myself ... "Hey ... Did you forget your age? You're not 20 anymore, silly."

So, yes ... this week I "turn old." But only in numbers.

I must say I would not want to be any younger. I treasure the wisdom I've gained over the years and I'm finally beginning to understand me and liking who I am.

So, shut up, 40!

Hi! I've been meaning to tell you that I try to read your blog all the time, but for some reason, it loads everything BUT the words to your post! Even after several minutes, I can't read the words. Wasn't sure if other people were having the same problem...or just me. It's probably just me. ;) Anyways, I'm sure they're fantastic! And I haven't forgotten about my friend in the bayou. :)

Happy almost 40th my friend!! You wear it well!! I so feel ya on the waking up early thing. Arrgghhh!! But, I try to use that time just for me and God. I tell myself its not old age waking me up, but Him to spend some quality time with His daughter. (thats my story and im stickin' to it.) Love ya!! Have a great birthday week!

Hey, some of us would love to be 40 again...no not really, I love being where I am. I figure, at least I made it to old. God could've taken me home a long time ago.

Hope you have a great Birthday!

Yes, I would love to be 40 again. I can empathize with some of your struggles, tho. Hope you have a very special birthday!

I can see it again! Yay! Magic. :)

Happy Birthday!

My 29 year old sister referred to people in their "middle thirties" as middle aged. I almost punched her in the face. Middle aged is not until at least 50...duh.

And, if getting older means I can actually drag myself out of bed in the morning, bring. it. on.

You will be a FANTASTIC 40!
