Why set myself up for failure?

Here's the deal about New Year's resolutions related to me.

I've made resolutions in the past only to fail. I'm good for a couple of weeks and then am back to my old habits. Self-control and willpower are not my strong suits.

And, my resolutions are generally about the same things I deal with all year long ... like thing's are going to change just because it's January.

The resolutions always involve weight loss (fitness and eating) and Bible study.

Let's just face it, people ... it's a battle every day.

Every. Day.

So, actually I've changed my mind. (Wow, I'm persuasive.)

I will make a resolution.

I resolve to continue to fight the same battles I face every day and pray I will have more success than before.

Right now, I'm not in the greatest mood ... my pants are too tight, my rosacea is having a field day on my face, my roots need to be done desperately, and I have a zit the size of Texas on my chin. I really just want to stay home, hide, and hope that I wake up in the morning with the skin of a 20-year-old and 5 pounds lighter.

So much for starting out the year with optimism.

Oh well.

To quote one of my favorite characters, Scarlett O'Hara, "After all, tomorrow is another day." A new day ... the 1st day of 2010.

(And let's not even get started on my year-long bucket list ... failure, failure, failure ... but I'm still working on it.)

A-MEN! I feel the same way about NYResolutions. Nicely stated.

And what about making your year-long bucket list just...a plain ol' bucket list? I'm working on mine too. Or just make a clause in your year-long that you will roll over whatever doesn't get done. :-)

Don't be so hard on yourself! Makes me feel a little comfort that others feel a lot like I do. BTW, you are still beautiful--chin zit, tight pants & rosacea!

Here's to us all trying to be the best person we can be...the way that God sees us!

Happy New Year!
