Nothing Beats the Love of a Daddy

Being a child of a single mom for a lot of my young life, I missed out on these types of moments.

What a treasure for my young daughters: Daddy-Daughter Date Nite. Beau takes each of the girls on dates throughout the year.

On Friday night, Beau & K Belle went to one of our favorite sushi restaurants. K Belle consumed more sushi than Beau. Here's a few pics taken with Beau's phone, so excuse the blurriness.

They shared some tender moments of conversation about trust, boys, and growing up.

I still remember this little baby girl who used to say "lemolade" and "Could I please get some turning up?" when she wanted me to turn up the radio in the car. I remember her "I not like raisins" said with a scowl on her face, and the 10-20 books she forced me to read to her every day. I remember her sweet, innocent singing that filled our home and best of all, I remember rocking and singing her to sleep every night ... 3-4 songs and she was out.

Tonight, I got so sentimental that I watched a video ... yes, videotape ... of her first and second birthdays. Then, I found this DVD. She was in an old Father's Day commercial we did at the church. She's the four-year-old with the "Drama Queen" t-shirt on. Some of the accents here are pretty thick. You Northerners ain't got nothin' on us.

Seriously, treasure EVERY moment ... even the poop.

Did she say the "Big Sweet Chicken"? Too cute!

I'm like you (raised by a single mother) and I don't fully get the relationship Skibbie and Big Daddy have because it's one that I never had my my father. Watching the two of them together, I have the sense that I missed out on something pretty good.

That video was SOOO sweet!

Although I grew up with both parents I wasn't really close to my dad. I LOVE watching my boys with Dave. It is so heartwarming.

I love that Beau takes the girls on dates. That is awesome~!

I remember that My Dad gave my sister lavender Roses on her 16th birthday. And I was so enivious of that, I wanted my Dad to give me flowers too.
Now that I am 34, I realize he did that to look good for himself. He was trying to woo her to live with him (this was during the divorce) and he was trying to get us on his side so he wouldn't be the one to pay child support.
I have never gotten flowers from my dad, never had special "date" nights or talks.
I feel SO lucky for my daughter and yours that they have such dialed in Dads who choose to love them and take their jobs as fathers seriously, and KNOW that it is up to them to teach these girlies how to love themselves.
It looked like they had so much fun!

I also never had daddy-daughter time, so it was hard for me to understand the relationship that my daugthers had, and still have with their dad. While I may not be able to relate to it, I can see how much they all enjoy it, and that makes me so thankful they get to experience it.

ohhh ~ they look like they had fun. Chris took me to eat sushi there on Sat night after the Puppet Festival. But we didn't have the crack salad (I think that's what Tommy said Rich called it?)

Is Beau taking the girls to Daddy-Daughter banquet on Sunday?

Those special dates are the best thing that he can do with your precious girls - they are going to grow up knowing that they are so cherished, and they'll know how a man is supposed to treat them.

What a cutie pie - man! She totally stole the show in the video!
