I'm hungry.

I can't really think about much of anything else, except for food (specifically the goldfish and corn chips sitting in the pantry), right now.

Any interesting, witty blogging material is nowhere to be found in this brain because this brain has visions of carbs dancing around in its head.

All the Carbs I've Loved Before -- powered by flowgo.com

Carbs that I am missing right now are not necessarily bad carbs; they just fall in that category.

I'm missing (in order of longing for):

#1 - Cereal (Frosted Mini Wheats, I love you.)
#2 - Quaker Instant Cinnamon and Spice Oatmeal
#3 - Fiber One Chocolate and Oats Granola Bars
#5 - Crackers ... any sort of cracker. I'll take even just the basic saltine right now.
#6 - Pretzels & Tortilla Chips (with salsa)
#7 - Potatoes (in the form of McDonald's french fries ... the best)
#8 - Fruit
#9 - Yogurt
#10 - Bread

If you didn't know, Beau and I are doing South Beach right now. We're in Phase One, which means no carbs, except that which you would get from veggies. Boo.

We're on Week Two of this two week phase. Next week we can add a little cereal, fruit, and yogurt.

We weighed this morning. Beau lost 12.25 lbs. I'm so proud of him and hating him at the same time. I lost 2 lbs.

I worked out four times last week. And when I say "worked out," I mean almost died. He worked out one time. And when I say "worked out," I mean he walked half-a-mile before it started raining. Guess where I was when it started raining? At the furthest point in my neighborhood ... running. I ran half-a-mile in the rain back to my house.

No, we're about to put in a movie. How do you watch a movie without popcorn or snack? Boo.

I'm going to make some tea. That should fill me up and satisfy my cravings. (sarcasm here)

I feel your pain...really I do. I don't think I could go carb-free though. I'm afraid I'd die before I lost weight. Why is it that men loose weight so much easier than we do? It's just NOT fair. I applaud your two pounds!

I'll bet it's not even good (sweet) tea:) Good luck! Your stronger than I am.
PS I'm hatin' him for you too, right now!

I am feeling your pain. Although I am not currently in Phase 1, I too have been there and there is now other way to say it... "It Sucks!" But, it will be worth it and once week 2 is over you won't crave those carbs quite as much... at least that's what they tell us. Wishing you well and praying for a fast week!

oh I needed that laugh this morning!!!! The video is awesome!!! thanks!

don't you hate that about guys....what is up with it. I love exercising with my hubby and working on weight loss but it can be so darn discouraging!!!

My husband is always able to put up big numbers too. He starts The Biggest Loser Contest at work on Thursday. I think he is going to drink a gallon of water before he starts to make sure to put of a big number in the first week. Are you sure Beau didn't do that?

Today I am going make him something fattening and full of carbs as a farewell. I would tell you what it is but I don't want to make your cravings any worse. :)

My friend's husband finished a Biggest Loser contest at work right before Christmas - he lost almost 50 lbs. He won $2500. Guys have a totally different metabolism.

I used to work for a weight loss company. I remember that the recommended menu was a lot of grilled chicken and green salad. It's supposed to metabolize in women better - I don't know if it works...I never tried it.

I totally know where you're coming from.

Except since I've been such an emotional wreck I ate a huge piece of cream-cheese filled king cake last night and didn't think twice about it.

Unfortunately I'm thinking about it this morning, and I'm glad I did at least a small workout on the old elliptical last night. :)

Hang in there - you don't need to lose weight - you're already tiny!

Oh girl, did I ever laugh at your post and then cried because I so feel your pain!

As you know I only lost 2 lbs also this week, but of course there was some cheating going on! Right now I want a potato chip so badly, I would do almost anything!!

Bonnie said...

Oh no. We're about to start the South Beach diet (prescribed by my doc) and you're not helping. :-)

And my hubby is the same way - definitely NOT fair.

How did that tea work out for you?

The video is hysterical. I'm doing WW right now. I think maybe I've lost a pound this week.

My hubby's doing it too and he gets to eat so much more than me and I know he'll lose faster too. It's just not fair. But as I tell my kids, who says life is fair?

I wish you success!

Ok, I must admit it I admire anyone willing to eliminate carbs from their diet! You totally ROCK.
Now, do you remember Sarah's post about the minty pie and how she had the hungry eyes song playing for it. I thought tht was the most clever, witty funniest thing E.V.E.R. Until I read, heard and watched you post today.
Where to begin:
To all the crabs I once caressed...
and may I say I've loved thee best...LOL
How you've worked out until near death only to loose 2 pounds. (At which I am totally cheering for you!) And Beau walks a block and looses 12.25. I totally see the unfairness in that. It is just WRONG. I get it. I am still going to cheer you on...I would D.I.E. without spaggetti and meatballs. Yes, die.
Proud of you! Keep it up!

God created man and woman differently. He gave man muscle and women fat. lol
Stick with your plan and you will be the happiest when you reach your goal.

I am stuck on my diet at the moment and trying to come up with something to get the weightloss going again. We are starting a group thing here at work on Monday so we will see how that goes.

I just found your blog today by way of Sara who said I had to watch your video ( I was complaining about dieting)
Great blog!

Try some Ezekiel bread. It's so yummy! They have it at the health food stores and drug emporium. It's always in the freezer because it has no preservatives. This advertisement brought to you by a foodie!

I feel your pain, MamaBelle! I did the SouthBeach several years ago and those first two weeks are the very hardest, but you see the best results from them. After I got past those 2 weeks, I didn't even crave the "bad" stuff.

Now, why are you sitting there thinking and listing all of the foods that are torturing you and you can't have??????

Fix a bowl of homemade vegetable soup or something. Honestly, time you take all of that stuff out the first 2 weeks, it's hard to find stuff you can eat. I remember that!

You've come a long way already, so don't give up! Yeah on the 2 lbs and the exercise!

Lois Lane II said...

Yep. Definitely drooling right now...

Jackie @ Our Moments Our Memories said...

Sister, I'm right there with ya. I am not following the South Beach, but just basically trying to cut out most carbs on my own. Maybe I should give that a try, though - do you like it? I mean, I know you don't like it, but it seems like it's working. 2 pounds - you rock!

Tracy said...

Oh wow! Sorry...I did Atkins before and hate those 2 week, jump starts!

I start weight watchers on Friday....so just COUNTING my itty bitty carbs! LOL!

Tammy said...

BOO Beau! (sorry had to hate on him for just a second about that show-off weight loss for the first week)

I am not using a specific diet but working harder at controlling portions and "bad" stuff. And I've been walking like a crazy woman... because I refuse to run, unless a gun at my back is involved.

Hang in there, it will get better!

RachelQ said...

LOL.. I am sorry... Aren't men horrible??LOL
Did you ever get your fudge pops?

Chel's Leaving a Legacy said...

I will never, ever diet with my husband. Ever. For that very reason.

And where in the WORLD do you find stuff like this cartoon?? lol Love the braids. :-)

The Bayou Belles and Their Beau said...

Rachel - Yes, I have a fudge pop every night (only 40 calories)

atara - Can't eat the Ezekiel bread right now, but have eaten it before. It's only good toasted in my opinion.

Chel - You Tube has a video for everything.

Jackie - South Beach is pretty easy, but if you crave and love carbs, it can be quite a challenge. It definitely is one of the most doable diets I've done.

Bonnie - The tea was just OK, but the point is I didn't eat.

Cuttin' out carbs is hard. I never realized how much I love crackers until I couldn't have 'em. Can you have pork rinds on south beach?
I've just been cuttin' portions and talking myself out of eating something I don't really need and it seems to be workin'. Of course not that I've bragged about it, tomorrow I'll probably eat everything I can get my hands on.
I hope it gets easier for you.

This is more of an email...I just found this awesome website, www.houseparty.com. They send you a "kit" to promote a product and you host a party. We just did a Velveeta one at Lifegroup last night. Anyway, I was looking around and found one for South Beach Diet and thought of you. Maybe you can make this no carb misery a bit more exciting! http://www.houseparty.com/splash/southbeachliving
