To Protect and Serve (and not shoot Mommy)

Yesterday, on the way to school Beau and the girls passed by some inmates picking up trash along the road, which I usually use as an example of what happens because of bad choices ... YADA, YADA, YADA.

La Petite Belle: How long do you go to jail if you kill someone?

Beau: It depends. It could be life, 75 years, could be the death penalty. But, you know, in the state of Louisiana, if someone breaks into your home and you shoot them, you don't go to jail because you're protecting your home and property.

K Belle: But, you don't have a gun.

Beau: No, but I really want one for Christmas.

K Belle: Really? Why?

Beau: For protection

K Belle: We don't want you to get a gun.

Beau: Why not?

K Belle: Because one of you might get mad and shoot the other one.

Beau: (chuckles) I won't shoot your mother.

K Belle: Well, what if she comes home late at night and you think she's a burglar?

Beau: Your mother and I call each other when we're coming home, so I'll know when she comes home.

K Belle: Well, what if she sneaks in wearing all black and she's holding diamonds in her hands?

(Beau doesn't really remember the rest after that statement.)

You have diamonds at your house? Or did you rob someone and bring them home??

Your daughters have wild imaginations!!!

Wow, that really paints a great picture of you: dressed all in black, diamonds dangling from your hands! Don't think anyone ever picture me that way before!

What great imaginations and questions! Your kids are a riot.

I see you have a "what if" child, too. Aren't they fun? (and exhausting!) :)

Have a great weekend!

I LOVE the things kids come up with! Sofia just told me last night while she was trying to go potty, "The pee is not coming out. I used it all up today." Love it!

I'm sure that last question had him laughing. Too Cute!

My peeps are obsessed with burglary. They have schemes for how they would handle home invaders and how they would protect us (the parents). I think I've let them watch "Home Alone" one time too many.

Don't you just love that deep conversations on the way to school?!
BTW I heard this morning on the radio that gun sales were up 50% due to the scare that the new Pres may change gun laws. Funny thing is that a big majority of buyers voted for him. Go figure.

Can't. Stop. Laughing.

Is he getting a gun?

Why is that that girls are worried about having guns and boys are worried about not having guns?

Maybe it's the balance of life.

Too funny! My husband would shoot me if I were sneaking in dressed all in black with diamonds in my hands! That would mean that I was shopping!!

This is also the number one reason my hubby wants to get a gun...in the event I come home dressed in black and holding diamonds.

Gotta love that imagination!

Now, that's a problem! Wouldn't he feel guilty if he shot you with all those diamonds in your hands! Love your blog, by the way! I've been "stalking" for a while now, but I only recently left a comment! Keep the laughs coming!

What an amzing imagination K belle has!

But seriously, what if you DID come home late wearing all black with diamonds in your hands?

I think you should invest in a BB gun. Less painful.

Funny, or not so funny, Hubby and I had a similar discussion last night but without the humor part. I suggested we get a dog instead; you know, one that looks and sounds scary but really isn't.

Oh, and about the Twilight series. I'm sure you could ask any friend or their teenage daughter. You could probably borrow the set.

Come on over for a visit if you like. I'm having a little contest. Blessings!
