Tears for McCain

La Petite Belle woke up this morning and headed downstairs to eat breakfast where Beau asked her and K Belle if they wanted to know who our new president was.

Of course, they did.

Beau said, "Well, it's Barack Obama."

K Belle gave the typical shrug that an 11-year-old would give.

La Petite Belle continued to stare at Beau in amazement (kinda the same face I had last night) when her eyes filled with tears and she began to cry.

Beau said, "Baby, it's OK. We're going to be OK. Why are you crying?"

La Petite Belle just cried, "I don't like Barack Obama."

Kinda reminds me of God and me. I'm La Petite Belle, crying about the condition of our country and now, the current leader, and God's just saying, "It's OK. You're going to be OK. I'm still in control."

Romans 13:1
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Same thing happened at my house, except I was the 40 year old woman crying.

Thanks for the verse.

That is such a hard pill to swallow, isn't it?

I'm feeling it too. Thanks for the verse.
You wise women you.

I am right there with you guys! I have tears for McCain and for us as a country. My heart is heavy. But God is still on the throne and HE has it all in control.

i remember crying when Bill Clinton got reelected. (i think i was about 11, as well.) i also remember seriously thinking we were moving to Canada after my parents had said it so many times:) i think i took everything they said about politics really seriously, but didn't know they were maybe exaggerating just a bit. What parents say about politics and our country really affects little ones. i'm not saying you guys were trying to freak her out or anything, but it's a good thing to remember.
It's a sad day today though. Never has 4 years seemed like such a long time until now.

Wonderful post Mama Belle.

My Karsyn was pretty sad this morning when she found out, as well. Although she didn't cry, the disappointment was written all over her face.

We as parents have a responsibility to our children to share God's word with them...the verse you posted speaks volumes. But it will take more than just telling them that we believe those words. We have to live it...even though I believe it will be tough for us to do so during these next 4years.

Thanks for giving ME some encouragement this morning!

This scenario happened in our house this morning. Libbey came into the kitchen asking, "Did McCain win?" Scott and I looked at each other and told her no. She got teary-eyed and said, "But why did that happen?"

We reminded her that God is in control...that God will take care of us...and that God has known about this election since the beginning of time. She said, "Well, I'm not going to call him 'president." I'll just keep calling him 'Obama.'"

I might be called intolerant for this, but you know what? I totally agree with my almost 7 year old child. I'll continue to recognize the Lord as my Leader. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess...and I am longing for that day, even now. Sigh...

Same here...except I'm definitly not as cute as your little one :)

Great post mama belle.

Very good reminder. My hubs was ferociously upset - even saying we're moving out of Ohio (since we're in Ohio and Barack won Ohio)...which made me laugh.

But, I kept telling him and even my friends who supported Obama - God is in control of us. What His plan is, it's His and it has to be good...and, the heavens might open up for the rapture that much sooner too ;-)

I knew when I went to bed last night and went to bed in tears, but I'd been crying a lot all day, too. I'm 48. I don't usually cry easily.

This morning I refused to turn on the TV or radio.

I was surprised the sun came out and the leaves out my windows were still beautiful.

Yes, God is still in control. Wow, I'm so glad to know that!

I don't know who got to her, but my 3-year-old daughter was dancing around the house last night saying "Prince Barack Obama." My hubby and I were puzzled because, even though she is three we still talked with her about the election and John McCain. It made me so sad - she is so innocent and I think was seduced by his youth and charisma.

Thanks for a rgeat post mama belle!

Oh Mama...
We are all feeling the pain this morning.
I could not go to sleep last night worried about the words I'd say to my little ones during school today. How do I tell them the canidate we spent endless hours, miles, $$$, prayers and faith in ~ had lost. How do I nurture the the growing love of our country and democracy in their little pea pickers without revealing what is really in my heart?
In the end, I just said it.
Girl Child cried.
Boy Child just turned away and to my HORROR, made a cha-chic sound. With my heart in my throat, I asked him about the sound. His reply, "Mommy, I just loaded my gun...we're gonna need it. Obama is not a good man."
I was speechless.
I so agree with Lula.

It's REALLY disappointing when you personally know the 3 or four 18 year-olds who voted for the first time and voted McCain. How deflating. As I said in my sidebar today, our wallets may have won, but our unborn lost.

Great post!

For me, while I'm not excited about his politics, I know it's God's will.
For some reason, beyond our human understanding, HE put Obama in this place.
He truly knows best.
how comforting!

It is a dissapointment. I'm glad we serve a God that doesn't change with the whim of a country or President.

There was a lot of disbelief at our house too. Aaron had this scripture in his history book yesterday. It was so God that he was doing that lesson this week

Daniel 2:21 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)

21 he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

There were tears here this morning, as well. I took comfort in the Romans verse this morning, too.
Your daughter sounds like a special little lady. :)

My 6 and 10 year olds were kind of numb at breakfast this morning. My 6 year old can't believe that a "democrack" will be president, and she thinks his name is stupid, too.

Stink is scared too. He asked us both last night if we still loved him.

At first I thought it a weird question - but I quickly realized he needed to know he will still be safe - even with Obama as president.

Scary times we're coming into.

I feel like crying too. It is awful. But I agree, my God will take care of me. I was listening to "never Let Go" this morning and thinking how much I needed to hear that song today.

My kids did not want to go to school today. They have been badgered by Obama supporters all week and did NOT want to hear them gloat.

Our freshman simply told them she did not want to hear it and that when it came time for her to vote she would continue to vote for a man that would support human life and not take it in the name of women's rights. That pretty much shut them up. These kids have no idea what he stands for - they just wanted to see an African-American as president.

I reminded them that we need to pray for him. Pray that God would soften his heart and turn his heart toward the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Without God, he is simply a man, lost for eternity, whether he has president in front of his name or not.

Jesus help us. And sweet La Petite Belle. I am sort of glad my little one isn't older and doesn't understand what's going on - I am having a hard enough time myself without having to explain it to her.

gosh this post made me cry and I am right there with you! We have no clue the depth of what is to come but we do know the depth of the one who controls it! Sometimes it hard to remember that and hang on to it. Thanks for your precious post.

I agree 100%. Everyone in my house was upset yesterday. I had to help them keep it together. Trust God!

Stop by my blog, I have something for you!

I feel the same way. I know God is in control but I still don't like the out come of the election. Totally bites!

It amazes me how insightful children are. My little peanut isn't old enough to know what is going on, but I know she thought her mommy was crazy for crying and telling Fox News off. ;)

I totally understand my kids were upset on Wednesday too. It didn't help that the mock election at school was McCain winning.

Bless her heart! I was amazed at how into the election my children were as well. They were not pleased either :(
