Is that a blue dog?

Have you heard of "The Blue Dog"?
It's kind of a big deal down here. It's art done by a man named George Rodrigue. And I actually love them. Basically, there's a blue dog in most of his paintings. And he's done a lot of paintings. There's even a restaurant ... delicious ... called "The Blue Dog," that serves Cajun and Creole food and is decorated with these paintings.

So, every year, our church does a Halloween alternative, called the Jamboree. Every year there's a theme and the kids dress up according to the theme. This year the theme was Cajun. This was a difficult theme for us because we are already Cajun ... no costumes needed.

There is also a costume contest at this event. La Petite Belle has won three times with costumes we have put together for her. Both the girls won two years ago. I've gotten to the point where I just can't be creative anymore. I can't keep trying to outdo myself every year ... well, almost.

You see, we decided to be our own Rodrigue, "Blue Dog" painting.

First, the Blue Dog,
Add in two Southern belles, a life-size picture frame, and Rodrigue, himself,

And, you get this ... First Prize Ribbon in the family category + a $100 gift certificate to WalMart.
And, did I mention the candy?
Lots and lots of candy. Check out what we already ate combined with Sonic shakes, of course (because we didn't have enough sugar and calories).
La Petite Belle and I wore matching UL shirts to show our "Ragin' Cajun" spirit after the girls got out of their costumes.

That was a cool idea, no wonder you won. I remember the blue dog. My youngest painted one for an art project in school. I have it hanging in our art gallery (basement family room).

Blessings

You have not lost a thing girl!

The blue dog has me laughing and wondering how you got your dog blue and not yourself? Did you have to chase him around the house?

Great job and you got some great candy too!!

Hugs!

Wow - that is amazing! How did you get Roxy Belle to hold still to color her hair?

I wanted to go to that exhibit but never got around to it. Kind of stupid of me.

Sweet!!! Not creative? I don't think so. It looks great, and I would have been shocked if you hadn't won.

Your blue dog is cracking me up!

I love the blue dog!! How long did the color stay in?

For all of you that worried about Roxy Belle, the color came out in one washing. It was just blue hair spray. She's back to her all-white self.

THAT is without a single doubt the most original get-ups I've seen in many, MANY moons!
Way to blow-away the competetion Belles!
Although, I think I would have kept little sweetie Roxy blue a while longer...just for the fun of it. How fun was that??? I am still chuckling, just picturing it!
Fabulous Mama!

Hmmm, I was wondering if y'all were LSU fans... big game Saturday. So if you are UL, you won't be pulling for the Tigers, right?
