Followers and Heart Attacks

See this nifty lil' followers thingy up on top here? It's super cool. All you have to do is click to become a follower and you won't have to miss a single one of my enlightening posts. I'm becoming a follower to all the blogs I read. It's just so much easier to have them updated all in one spot. Thanks for the boost in my self-esteem. You're sweet.

Now, on to the heart attacks ...

There I was ... sound asleep, lying on my side, my face toward the outside of the bed ... when, in an instant, a face appears about two inches away from my face, just about giving me a heart attack. How can these kids be so quiet and how do they just come out of nowhere and appear right in front of my face? I mean, I am in deep sleep here.

The voice (La Petite Belle's) says, "Mama, I have two reasons I should be afraid right now: One - there's somebody in my room, and two - I have an ant bite."

Ummm ... HUH? Are you kidding me?

I say, "(Her real name), there is no one in your room and you need to go to bed."

So, of course, after taking her back to her room and flipping on the light to show her there was no one in her room, I tucked her back into bed.

I desperately tried to go back to sleep, but you know, with age, if you're up at 2:20 a.m., you will not be able to resist the urge to pee. So, there I was, up out of the bed again.

I attempted again to return to my slumber. It takes a little longer now to fall back asleep ... another getting older issue I have.

At around 3:30 a.m., as I was just about to doze off, when I see a light on in La Petite Belle's room and the door is closed. I toss the covers off and march right over to her room. This child is just lying in her bed watching Camp Rock. "What in the world are you doing? You know you are not allowed to turn on the TV in the middle of the night?" She says that she couldn't sleep. Apparently like mother, like daughter. I turn off the TV and once again, tell her to go to sleep.

Then, about 30 minutes later, I hear a loud noise and then, crying. La Petite Belle had stubbed her toe on the bed after once again, being up and going to the bathroom.

Guess what the great mother did at this point? I was very tired, ya'll.

I made La Petite Belle get in the bed with me (Beau was oh so thrilled with this) so I could just get some sleep. I guess she won after all.

The followers thing is very cool, but it kinda reminds me of junior high!

Sorry you didn't get much sleep. :) This post is precisely why I want to keep my little on in the crib as long as possible!

Oh no...you mean it doesn't change even when they get older? ;) I know, she just had a bad night, poor thing. I find it hilarious that she turned on the TV in the middle of the night.

Hmmm, kinda wonderin how grouchy you are today after all that?
Whew, I remember the days when my daughter used to do things like that. She used to come up and poke me while I was in a dead sleep just to ask me if I was sleeping!

My 7yo can come and get in my bed and me not even know it until the morning, he is so quiet. I don't know how they do that either!

Now you have a reason to be grouchy. We never sleep thought the night at La Casa de Sickels. We are going on a trip to Savannah in 2 weeks and I can't wait just to get to sleep through the night. Our poor babysitter won't sleep though. Oh well, better luck tonight.

We have all done this. Sleep always triumphs over disciplining a child in the middle of the night!
