I'm not 20 anymore and I am feelin' it now ... just in case you were wondering about my real age!

This weekend was fantastic! Here are a few pictures from our overnight stay in New Orleans.

Me, and my friends, Jeri, and Jane
We got to the House of Blues at 7:00 p.m., when the doors were to open. No dice. We stood outside in line, in the Louisiana heat for an hour before they let us in. Concert was sold out, so it was packed. Once we were finally inside, we stood in the center on the main floor for another half hour or so. They started the concert late. By the time they did start, my feet were already killing me. I wore heels which hurt me and helped me at the same time. I would have never been able to see without the heels (I'm 5'3"), but the balls of my feet were numb and swollen by the time we made it back to the hotel. Of course, some dufus guys stood directly in the middle, in the front ... in front of all these short women, including Jeri and me. I basically had to look through spaces between their tall heads. Overall, I could see pretty well. We were about seven ft. from the stage.

In the end, it was worth all the pain.

Heart was INCREDIBLE! Ann Wilson's voice was amazing and the guitarists were definitely rockin'. I was very impressed with Nancy Wilson. She is probably up there in years, but she looks great and was totally jumping around like a true rocker.

Hearing this live was awesome ... here's a little sample.

The concert was about an hour and half long, and we had planned to eat dinner beforehand, but there was no time. At around 10:00 p.m., we were out on the streets just looking for a simple place to eat ... I mean, anywhere ... even, Taco Bell for Pete's sake! There was nothing open. HUH? This is New Orleans, people ... a city that doesn't sleep. Restaurants should be open until at least 2:00 a.m. The only places open were bars. Lovely! (sarcasm)

We found the nearest bar/grill that was not on Bourbon St. It was a small place on Conti about a block from our hotel ... The Copper Monkey.
And, can I tell you that I had the best club sandwich I have had in a long time, not to mention the delicious french fries. Jane had a burger that was also very tasty. So, thank you Copper Monkey ... we were starving!

Back to the hotel ... and let me tell you, this is another great thing about our trip. The hotel was delightful! Bliss products in the bathroom, large flat-screen TV, window overlooking a lovely patio with fountain and lots of tents and sitting areas, great decor, and best of all ... the bed! The bed was extremely comfortable with a down comforter and pillows. I highly recommend staying at a W hotel. We will stay there again.

I tried very hard to sleep late after getting to bed at about 1:00 a.m. I threatened Jeri with her life, (who also has a problem sleeping late) to not get up out of the bed until after 8:00 a.m. I really, really, really wanted to sleep late. Jeri said she woke up at 5:30 a.m., but just laid there and tried to go back to sleep. Thank you, Jeri. However, she got a text at 7:00 a.m., which woke Jane and me up. Oh, well, so much for that. After that we were up and got ready for our departure and our beignets.

You just can't go to New Orleans without going to Jackson Square. So, here it is.
My delicious beignets and old-fashioned chickory coffee. Jane got an iced-latte that was also delicious.
One of the highlights of my day!
Here's the other highlight of my day! Beau turned the big 41. Man, he's old. I know what you're thinking ... he definitely robbed the cradle with me. Ummm ... sure, you're right.

We had dinner at Tsubaki, a hibachi grill, with friends.

Despite the fact that the restaurant double-booked the room for our reservation, we got seated an hour later, which was 10:00 p.m., which makes it two nights that I haven't eaten dinner until almost 11:00 p.m., and they ran out of un-sweetened tea, lemon, and salad, the food was to die for, and the company was pretty good too.

Happy Birthday Beau (even though that's not your real name)!
Our comedians, ummmm ... I mean, chefs.
Yumm-o! I really wanted to post the pictures of all of our friends, but it was way too many pictures, and you might get bored (not that their faces are boring ... you know what I mean).
The birthday boy and his cheesecake.
I am officially pooped ... tired of staying out until all hours of the night and being the life of the party (that's hard work, you know), and my feet hurt. Remember those days when you could stay up until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning? Those days are gone!

Back to real life ... I've got laundry to do.

I cannot stay up that late anymore . . . even though I am night person!

Your trip looked fabulously fun - except for the standing in line in the heat!

I think I would keel over dead if I stayed up till 3 a.m. LOL
Those were the days weren't they?! When you could stay up all night and not take two whole days to recover...
Happy Birthday to your Honey. Looks like you had a great time!
Hey, did you see a little fortune teller named Miss Lena at Jackson Square? Travel Channel says she's always there.

Sounds like you had a good time and I believe that taking a hammer to the cell phone at 7am would have been appropriate! I am not a morning person either :}

Hugs!

I have never been to New Orleans, but it looks like you had a great time. I'm just laughing at the senario of late night, late dining, swollen feet and realize that it would take me a week to recover. Glad you had fun.
