I Think I Might Be Dying and What did I Get Myself Into?

I started the Daniel Fast today, not just for health reasons, but spiritual ones too. It's kinda like killing two birds with one stone, so to speak. For those of you who don't know, the Daniel Fast is only fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. No meat, dairy, sugar, foods with any sort of chemicals. Basically everything has to be all natural and no artificial sweeteners either. But, let me tell you what's killing me ... none of this!
NO CAFFEINE! Not even tea ... nothing, na da. I think I know what a drug addict experiences. I am going through detox right now. My mind thinks if I could just have that cup of coffee, my headache will be gone. I mean, this is hard, ya'll! I was very gung-ho about it at 9:00 this morning, even at lunch, I was OK. But, let me tell you something, by 4:00, I had a massive headache and stomachache. I felt like I was going to vomit. These feelings have all just passed. I hope that this is not what I have to look forward to for the next 20 days. Do you think someone's a total failure if they break their fast after Day one? Talk about LOSER! But, I'm going to try my best not to do that. I will definitely be needing the Lord's help.

Actually Daniel didn't allow anything pleasant to even touch his lips. And after all these days of veggies and water, he was super smart and strong. So, I'm hoping that happens to me too. I will try not to blog about this every day, no matter how I feel. So as you all are eating your steaks and drinking your lattes, just think of me eating only the good stuff.

Wow, that takes courage, strength and maybe a dose of insanity! I don't know how you are going to do it - kuddos to you! I MUST have my coffee in the morning - I have horrible headaches and am grumpy if I don't.

Wishing you well!

Ok, blogger just ate my last comment i think... here's the less lengthy version of what I said...

Green Smoothies - Good stuff... lotsa energy!

You can substitute soy milk for cow's milk on a 1:1 ratio in recipes. Soy is a veggie. I know lots about dairy free... unfortunately.

Check out Raw Food Recipes. I hear there are some good ones floating around the blogosphere.

Hope you wanted suggestions... I just gave more than two cents worth... hope you don't mind. :)

Best wishes! You can do it! Hope you find the strength and wisdom you are seeking!

Thanks Becky! I was questioning whether I could have the soy milk.

I'm a total addict, so if it hurt too much, I can't bear to try it...was it worth it?!?
